The ball is rolling...

Welcome to the Becker Bunch Blog!

We are preparing for our upcoming move and we wanted to share our experience as we take each step closer to our new adventure with friends and family. We have been researching Alaska life and falling in love with all Alaska has to offer.

We began planning our route and asking for advice from those who have also traveled to Alaska. We are taking Brad's truck and we will be pulling our 5th wheel. This is going to be an extended vacation as Brad is taking about 20 days of leave in addition to the 11 travel days the Air Force gives him to get there.

So far the plan is as follows, leaving out on March 30th heading towards Hill AFB, UT to visit some friends we met here at the USAFA FamCamp for a couple days. We would then like to travel West to Cali to spend a few days exploring San Francisco while staying at Travis AFB. Maybe even spending a day checking out Alcatraz Island. We then will head North on Highway 101 to the Red Wood Forest. This has been a dream of mine for a while so we will stay for a few days to take it all in.

We are still researching if we should continue to head North on Highway 101 towards Washington or cut over to Highway 5. We have been warned that 101, although very scenic, has tight roads, steep hills and slower traveling whereas Highway 5 is more a straight shot.

Brad's oldest sister lives in Seattle. We are excited about spending some time with her and her husband and having them share their favorite spots in Seattle. We plan to stay for several days at McChord AFB, of course stopping in at the 1st Starbucks :).

We have began looking at the trip through Canada. We are waiting for the most current issue of the Milepost
http://www.themilepost.com/index.shtml to be released in March to plan that portion of our trip. We have been told that the Milepost is the bible for traveling through Canada.

We would like to invite you to save the web address and check back often. We will add posts and pictures of our trip. Let the adventure begin.....
